Introduction
From Albus’ website (via Google Translate): My studio/caravan is located in the countryside of Mareuil en Périgord. I learned to build twangs from luthier Philippe Mousnier. Since we share many common philosophies, I also use some of his techniques, such as the “felt keyboard” or the “moving wheel” (developed with Romain Baudoin). Following Philippe’s legacy, I strive to create comfortable instruments with a warm sound that is as defined and restrained as possible, while avoiding any “noisy” sounds. Similarly, I typically use magnetic pickups (like most guitars) to capture electric and electro-acoustic twangs. This results in a sound very close to the instrument’s natural sound. Furthermore, each pickup picks up its source independently, which minimizes the influence of adjacent strings and allows for the cleanest possible blend. Again, like Philippe Mousnier, I typically use wood from local forests (Périgord and other nearby regions) and prefer to preserve the wood’s natural qualities.Location
